Horus Apollo (2nd, 4th c. ?)
Horus Apollo wrote in the second or fourth century a.d. a treatise on the Egyptian hieroglyphs entitled Hieroglyphica . The book (greek translation by Philippu) become known in Italy in 1419. Panofsky writes about the influence of it on the woodcuts in Hypnerotomachia Polyphili. Albrecht Durer made illustrations of Pirkheimer's translation of Horus Apollo in 1512/13.
