Instead of Metrology

by David Bowman

Eze 40:3 And he brought me thither, and, behold, [there was] a man, whose appearance [was] like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.

Before we can deduce the nature of composition we have to find out what kind of measurement system the architect used. A correct system of measures is checked when the whole numbers of the composition are obtained, that is why the system was used in the first place, to rationalize the composition, and enable construction of vast monuments. This rationalization was for an ancient architect, who comprehended the universe in a completely different manner than we do, a great reward, since he could mimic nature through symbolic language that was thought to represent it best. For the ancients there were no apparent separation between art, science, and religion - it was one single 'magickal' universe that interweaved the three into one.

In 1822 a French savant Edme Francois Jomard discovered a measuring rod that represents a royal cubit with its subdivisions.

A royal cubit consists of 28 units, digits, which is the same as 7 palms of 4 digits. Another cubit known is a common cubit which equals 6 palms.

This rod is also a 'ruler' of gods. A succession of 28 gods, beginning with Ennead, correspond to the 28 divisions of the royal cubit. Each of these gods had a correspondent number: Atem is 1, Shu is 2, Osiris is 6, Isis 7. Ennead drawn at the beginning is representing the line of succession that is the same as described in Pyramid texts, so we can be quite sure that gods are not drawn haphazardly, but following each other in the manner that was canonized. That means, for example, that whenever the dimension of 6 cubits was used it also represented Osiris, if seven digits, spans, or cubits were projected, Isis was invoked, and so with any other measure/god.

The third line from below seems to indicate some important symbolic relations and mathematical formulas, and it is also a larger scale ruler. A hieroglyph for a 'cubit' is drawn on the position 6, which could mean that a cubit is obtained from 6 palms, and another hieroglyph is indicating at position 7, a royal cubit of 7 palms. This hieroglyph is also guarding the rational approximation of Pi = 22/7, since it marks 7 from the left side of the scale, and 22 digits from the right side. Another interesting detail is a sign of ka dividing 13 and 14, and we will show that these two numbers are crucial for the message encoded in the composition of pyramids.
