Fra Filippo Lippi about 1450-1453
Egg tempera on panel, 68.6 x 152.7 cm
London, National Gallery
Annunciation was bought together with Seven Saints (by the same artist) from the Medici Palace in Florence.
Medici device of a ring with a diamond in a form of a pyramid and feathers probably shows that they commissioned the painting. The emblem of a diamond ring with feathers was developed primarily by Piero di Cosimo.
