Bellechose, Henri
(active about 1415-1440)
Flemish
Flemish painter Henri Bellechose was Burgundy court's official painter. He worked for Philip the Bold (1342-1404) and his son John the Fearless (1371-1419). They were great patrons of art and they often used the services of Flemish painters such as Jean de Beaumetz, Jean Malouel, and Henri Bellechose. Philip’s most important patronage work was the completion of the Carthusian monastery of Champmol, near Dijon.
