| | | | Diane de Poitiers (1499-1566) was the lifelong mistress of French king Henry II, irrespective of that he was the husband of Catherine de' Medici. Diane was beautiful and intelligent, and she took part in ruling the country as an 'unofficial adviser of Henry II'. Her emblem was composed of three interlaced crescents. |
