Full title: Humilitas and Saint Margherita Kneeling at Her Feet. This panel is a part to the altarpiece of the Saint Humilitas (Saint Humility).
Saint Humilitas was born in 1226 in Faenza (Italy) as Rosanna. He married Ugoletto and in 1250, when he was nearly killed, they decided to separate in order to live a saintly life. She founded the first Vallombrosian monastery for nuns on Malta (Santa Maria Novella). She died 1310 in Florence. |
