Master E.S.

(active in Upper Rhine region, about 1450-1467/68)
German

Master E.S. was German engraver and goldsmith, working in Upper Rhine region. He made more than five hundred different engravings, including a large number of ornamental prints. He was the first to apply the technique of crosshatching to engraving. He had a great influence on engravers in Germany and Netherlands.
