| Inscription: This portrait was done by Albrecht Durer of his teacher, Michael Wolgemut, in 1516. Later added by Durer: and he was 82 years old and lived till one counted the 1519th year, he died on St Andrews day, before sunrise.
Date above Durer's monogram was corected from 1506 on 1516.
On 30 November 1486, Durer began his three years apprenticeship at the painter and woodcut illustrator Michael Wolgemut. |
