| | | | From the series of 'Six Knots', presumably executed during Durer's second journey to Italy (1505-1507). First impressions of the Knots are made on Italian paper. Theye were direct copies of Italian engravings from the circle of the Academy of Leonardo da Vinci. Durer monogram in the centre first appeared on latter impressions. He mentioned the knots in the Diary of the Journey to the Netherlands: I presented the six knots to Meister Dietrich, Glazier. (Meister Dietrich is Dirk Vellert) |
